The question: how far should the agent go?
Many founders already work with an AI assistant every day. The question becomes concrete: can I ask it "find me thirty product directors in French scale-ups and launch a sequence"? Lemlist answered with an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, a connector that lets an AI assistant use an external tool. This article describes what it allows according to Lemlist, what to keep under control, and how it compares with Lead Intelligence's approach. For the general choice between the two tools, read our overall comparison.
What Lemlist's MCP server allows
According to the official page, the server exposes more than 40 tools and works with Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and other MCP-compatible clients. An assistant can:
- search leads in a database of more than 600 million contacts, with filters (job title, industry, tech stack, hiring signals, intent signals);
- enrich: verified emails, phone numbers, LinkedIn context, company news;
- personalize messages from real context such as a funding round or hiring activity;
- launch a campaign by adding leads to active sequences, over email, LinkedIn or calls;
- optimize by spotting underperforming steps and rewriting weak messages.
Lemlist states that API keys stay on your machine, that the AI client only transmits instructions and that no data is stored there. MCP server access appears in every plan on the pricing page, and a 14-day trial without a credit card is offered. Check current terms before committing.
Agentic enrichment
Lemlist also offers, outside MCP, agentic enrichment: agents analyse websites, LinkedIn profiles, past call transcripts and CRM data (HubSpot and Salesforce are named), then produce lead scores, segmentation tags, purchase signals and personalization variables usable in campaigns. The page does not state a credit cost. The pricing page shows add-ons: lead enrichment at $16 per month for 2,000 credits, intent signals at $21 per month for 100 signals (annual-billing prices, read on 29 September 2026, subject to change).
What changes when the agent can launch sends
An assistant that adds leads to an active sequence triggers messages in your name. Three points deserve a decision before you connect anything:
- Who reviews? A vague instruction ("target scale-ups") can produce a broad list and badly calibrated messages. Decide on an approval point before leads join the sequence.
- What cap? An assistant does not know by itself how many messages your domain and LinkedIn account can bear. Set the cap in the sending tool and follow the alerts.
- What trail? Note where contacts come from and why they were chosen: you will need it if a person exercises their right to object.
These points hold for any tool that sends. To go further on sending rules, read our guide on the Lemlist alternative.
Lead Intelligence's approach: the agent proposes, you send
According to Ember's technical documentation, Lead Intelligence discovers prospects, enriches them, drafts an opening message, then schedules it from your connected LinkedIn or email account. The cadence proposes and schedules but never triggers a send on its own: each send needs an explicit click. This choice is written in Ember's architecture decision record, with its reasons: user trust, risk to their professional reputation and the risk of LinkedIn restrictions.
Another practical difference: looking up a professional email or phone number starts with one click from a prospect's card, without a prior confirmation. Only the actual cost is charged when a contact detail is found, a search with no result or a failed one costs nothing, and the credit history keeps a trace of the charge. In Ember's product documentation we found no MCP server for Lead Intelligence: if your need is to drive the tool from Claude or Cursor, that is a point to check with Ember before concluding.
| Question | Lemlist through MCP | Ember Lead Intelligence |
|---|---|---|
| Where the assistant works | In Claude Desktop, Cursor or another MCP client | Inside Ember |
| Who triggers a send | The assistant can add leads to an active sequence | You, with a click for each send |
| Contact database | More than 600 million contacts per the MCP page | Discovery through a connected LinkedIn or Sales Navigator account, or import of your files |
| Enrichment | Agentic enrichment, credits on top | On-demand email or phone lookup, actual charge only if found |
| Driving from an outside assistant | Yes, official MCP server | Not found in the product documentation |
How to choose
- You already run sequences and have a team executing them. Lemlist's MCP server can cut preparation time, provided you keep a review step before leads join sequences.
- You are starting out and every message counts. A tool where you approve each send limits costly mistakes, at the price of a little time each day.
- You already use Clay for enrichment. Clay connects to Lemlist and can add, update or check leads in its campaigns, per its integrations page. You can therefore combine enrichment done in Clay with sending in Lemlist, without going through MCP.

FAQ
What is an MCP server, in plain words?
It is a connector that lets an AI assistant, such as Claude Desktop or Cursor, use another tool's functions: here searching contacts, enriching them or adding leads to a Lemlist sequence.
Is Lemlist's MCP server paid?
According to Lemlist's pricing page, MCP server access appears in every plan, and a 14-day trial without a credit card is mentioned. Enrichment consumes credits on top; check current terms.
Can my assistant send messages without my review?
According to Lemlist, a connected assistant can add leads to active sequences. If your sequence is active, messages go out per its configuration. Put your review before leads join the sequence.
Does Lead Intelligence send automatically?
No. According to Ember's documentation, the cadence proposes and schedules, and each send needs an explicit click from you.
Can I drive Lead Intelligence from Claude or Cursor?
We found no MCP server for Lead Intelligence in Ember's product documentation. Check with Ember before building a workflow that depends on it.
What should I do with the personal data the assistant collects?
Keep the source and the reason for choosing each contact, and honour objection requests. The CNIL requires a simple, free way to object to professional email prospecting.
